Treenimation is an open source software tool that lets you create
multiplayer board games, as well as games with 2D,
and ultimately 3D animation. The development of Treenimation is currently
in the early stages of implementation. Treenimation runs under Windows
and is implemented in Python.
The Linux version of Treenimation is called
Boardwalk,
and is also implemented in
Python. The target platform of Boardwalk is the
OLPC laptop. OLPC
stands for "One Laptop Per Child," a project which aims to distribute
millions of $175 laptops to schoolchildren in developing countries.
Using a built-in scripting language called Treescript, developers can create
almost any game imaginable. These games can then be uploaded to the
Treenimation web site. Non-programmers can create drag-and-drop board games,
and programmers can add functionality to these games.
